Bad kickoffs create bad projects. Use the same checklist every time.
48 hours before kickoff
- Brief signed and stored.
- Access confirmed (not "requested").
- Stakeholders on calendar with decision authority.
- Success metric restated in client words.
- Internal owner assigned in delivery queue.
During kickoff
- Confirm stages and communication channel.
- Show where status will live (portal or shared view).
- Agree response SLAs both directions.
- Book next checkpoint before hanging up.
Use this as a working checklist inside your team first. When the same steps repeat every week and spreadsheets start breaking, that is usually the moment to scope a secure portal for onboarding status, account actions, files, approvals and customer messages as an owned system.
